Come and ride with us on some of the fantastic mountains gorges and coastal roads of Spains, Picos De Europa to watch the historic Moto-Piston rally, hill climb and the 5000 curves time trial for pre 80's bikes only.
The Rally this year has moved from Colombres to the historic city of Santander and the historic Sandero racing circuit.
Our modern bikes are made very welcome and are a great way to get around and have a look at the old bikes from various vantage points around the mountainous route.
2009 saw Sammy Miller on an historic Gilera 4 from the fifties and Bonera on his works Mv 500 gp 4 competing, or just have a look around the town centre autojumble, sample the giant paella have a drink while wandering around looking at the old bikes.
The classic bikes take part in the 5000 curves trial which has them ride 500km in one day, swooping through the mountains and gorges of the Picos De Europa, great to see and hear them used in anger.
Relax, hike or jump on your bike and explore the deserted biking roads of this fascinating region.
The Moto-Piston Rally 5000 curves event entry is for pre 80's motorbikes only and by pre entry only, so if you fancy a bit of competition dig the old bike out get polishing and enter. [www.mcpiston.com]
This is an escorted tour as against a guided, ride with us or on your own,
We stay in one hotel for four nights and you can unpack the bike, relax and do as you please, ie, join us on rideouts, explore yourself or with your mates, follow the old bikes, go to the beach, it is your holidays, you choose.
Frequent stops will be made for photos, cuppas, toilets etc.
Oct Wednesday:-
We will meet you at the Portsmouth ferry terminal at aproximately 9am for the Santander ferry which leaves at 11 am.
Once on board and settled into your twin ensuite cabin how about venturing outside on deck to see the land slipping away as we head out towards the Bay of Biscay, or take advantage of the ships facilities and entertainment and have a good night.
Oct Thursday:-
After a goodnights sleep onboard we will arrive in the port of Santander at aprox 12 am via the picturesque approaches.
Disembark then we will meet up and get over to our hotel.
Just wander along to the hotel on your own the choice is yours.
Unload the bike and relax and get settled in or have a wander around this picturesque and popular seaside city which has loads of resteraunts,shops, bars etc. to suite all tastes.
Oct Friday:- do as you please day [5000 curves time trial starts from Santander]
Good morning breakfast is served, relax this is a do as you please day, visit Santander for the 5000 curves,explore on your bike, have a look around or take advantage of the hotels facilities,your choice.
I will be going up to Santander for the start of the 5000 curves time trial to see the old bikes off at 8 am, Join me if you like but not to worry if you don't fancy getting up early there is another route which starts at 10.30 from Santander.
I will get the route and you are welcome to join me on a rideout which will take us to see and hear the old bikes at various stages of there lap, including a stop for lunch etc.[ a good day biking]
This picturesque area combines huge mountains and gorges with smooth twisty roads between them and a great place to wear the sides of your tyres out on the hairpins and sweepers.
Lunch will be casual and taken in one of the colourful hostelries that dot the area. Fed and watered we will jump back on bikes and ride another twisty route through the magnificent scenery meandering back to our hotel around 5 pm, ready for a well deserved drink and wind down with a bit of banter and a nice evening out in Llanes.
Oct Saturday:- do as you please day [parade laps,auto jumble, giant paella,]
Breakfast then the choice is yours,
Today has the historic hillclimb, autojumble and giant paella in the square, wander around have a drink and have a look at the hundreds of old bikes.
In the afternoon I will lead a rideout into the Picos feel free to join me, we will be passing through some very old quaint villages or climbing passes and gorges on roads made for biking,
Keeping an eye out for Black Bears, Wolves and massive Pyranean mountain dogs which look after the sheep on the high passes.
I am sure you will be impressed by this beautiful part of the world and there is so much to see.
Oct Sunday:- do as you please day
Up and refreshed and ready for a good breakfast.
I will take an interesting rideout into the mountains and gorges today, [join me if you feel up to it or just relax it is your holidays], stopping off for a nice lunch and a good day riding in this stunning area.
Oct Monday:-Returning to Portsmouth 9pm
After a relaxing breakfast, pack your bike and have a leisurely ride back to Santander for 2.30 embarkation, for 4 pm departure, get aboard and settle in and take advantage of the in house entertainment with your new found friends.
Oct Tuesday:-
Good morning shipmates, breakfast and a relaxing day aboard as we travel back across the Bay of Biscay, look out for dolphins and whales, ready to leave ferry and a safe ride home.
